Stuck In My Head: August 2015

I know I've been sharing 3 songs every month that have been jammed in the old noggin, but honestly there has really only been one song for the month of August.  This gem is just something else, it really is.

They recently updated the muzak playlist at work. There was already a lot of music from The Police and Sting, but not this one. I must say that the first song I ever heard from The Police was "Every Breath You Take". The second song I ever heard graced with Sting's vocals was "Fields of Gold" I really thought Sting was the real deal.

And then I heard the rest of the stuff The Police put out. And Sting's solo albums. And... yeah. I really can't stand his voice, and he's got some rubbish songs that are extremely popular.

But this little ditty blew me out of my socks in the way that it struck a chord with myself and my relationship with my fiancee. I listened to it over and over and over and over again one night. And the next night. And the next. And in the car the next day. And at work. And so on.

It's really all I've got for this month.

I love you, Kelly.

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #13

#13 - Beartooth - Beaten In Lips

Chaos. Beartooth were all over 2014 and are still thumping along in 2015. There have been rumblings of new songs and a new album over social media. I am excited. As far as this song goes, it's actually been replaced in my head with "In Between". Both "In Between" and "The Lines" were released as singles, and those three tracks (including this) were my favorites from this album. I like it when things like that work out. And I sorely hope the boys can follow up this disc with another killer.

See you next week!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #14

14. Weird Al - (A.) Foil; (B.) Handy

A) I loved Lorde's hit "Royals". Lorde is incredible, and the song is just that. But there was no way I could listen to it after hearing "Foil". In fact, the two are almost inseparable in my head. Which is why I had to stop listening to both. Hahaha

B) Well, I never really listened to the actual song (Fancy) before hearing the Weird Al parody, but it's hilarious. Like, hilariously bad. It made me enjoy the parody 10x more. Literally, I watch the Iggy video just to be blown away by the awfulness.

Both songs are great, as is the entire album. One of the best of 2014. It has stood the test over the year and is still a stand-out disc filled with brilliant gems.

See you next week!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #15

#15 - Five Iron Frenzy - I Am Jack's Smirking Revenge

There was no possible way I could have known this album would be this good. For a comeback album from a ska band a decade dead? No way. What a great album. I still give it a spin every now and then this year. The scary thing is that the more I listen to it, the more I'd rank it top 3 for all of their albums all time.  Our Newest Album Ever! will always be #1 for me, but this one might just be #2.  I haven't really listened to this specific song as much, but the album is still rocking me. Way to go, guys!

See you next week!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #16

#16 - Winds of Plague - Say Hello To The Undertaker

Amusingly, Winds of Plague have made a few ripples amongst the metal community this year when their keyboardist had topless photos of her leaked online. Outside of that, the band has been quiet and I haven't spent a lot of time spinning this disc this year. It was one of the more enjoyable metal attacks from 2014, but I needed a break from it's ferocity. Perhaps once hockey season kicks back in, the Plague will be back.

'til next time!
