#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #4

#4 - Eye of the Enemy - The Shift

Unstoppable. The opening acoustic and heavy riffs up to 1:25 have continued to play over and over and over and over and over again. It's as if "Warning" by Aeon Zen had a child and it kept on kicking in your eardrums. Great song, lackluster album. But, great song. Metal will be prevalent in the 2015 countdown.

So stay tuned!

Stuck In My Head - October 2015

I can watch Jason Derulo dance all day.

Buildings with 100 floors, swingin' round revolving doors. Tell me, Kelly. Tell me.

Pet Shop Boys. Not my favorite of the 80s, but this song is incredibly good. And Dusty Springfield gives it a lovely touch.

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #5

#5 - Chvrches - The Mother We Share

Here's one that has never fallen off. I could watch this video of Lauren Mayberry singing over and over again. In honesty, the song off of this album that has gotten the most play has actually been Gun, but this track is a stalwart top hit of all time. AND there's a new Chvrches album out too? Mercy me. Here we go again!

See you next week!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #6

#6 - Lo-Fang - When We're Fire

Oh, there it is. That song that couldn've been #1. At #6 last year! A little digging shows me that it was #6 in 2013, #5 in '12, #2 in that memorable 2011 countdown (let's be honest; two song race), #4 in 2010 and in '09 it was also #5. So, with the exception of the Owl City/Young The Giant slugfest (which had Good for Great by Matt and Kim at 3), 4-6 seems to be a fair spot for that song to fall into at the end of the year. I don't think it will be any higher than #5 this year.

But anyways, Blue Film has stuck around in one song or another this year. When We're Fire is the obvious champion of the record, but it's still a great, steamy disc and I cannot imagine him following up with anything better. Hopefully I'm wrong! Ha!

See you next week!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #7

#7 - Impending Doom - Hellhole

Woof. What an album. I had to put this one down after surgically re-attaching my neck early this year. Honestly, if this recap has taught me anything it's that too much of a good thing needs to be looked at later rather than sooner. Probably won't run this segment again next fall, but we'll think of something!

Playlist: Update

Work has been a little hectic the past month, and Christmas music is coming very soon. There's a lot of countdown work that needs to be done, and I'm somewhat behind at the moment. With that in mind, I'm suspending the countdown for the time being. The TBT specials will continue to run, and you bet your bottom dollar that on November 30th, it'll be time to run the show once more. Year number six!

#tbt - The 2014 Countdown - Where Are They Now? #8

#8 - Sleeper Agent - Waves

I kind of feel like Sleeper Agent was just a phase for 2014. I didn't much like them before I heard this song, and even though I remember liking this album when I was in my "obsessed with this song" mode, I recently listened to it and was less than pleased. Listening to the song now, I remember what I loved, I simply don't feel that way about it before. Funny how music works, huh?

til next week!
