The 2016 Jester One Music Top 20 Countdown - #17

#17 - Trivium - Until The World Goes Cold

Trivium have been kicking around the metal scene since their outstanding debut disc Ascendancy in 2005. I can honestly say that I hadn't paid much attention to them since 2008, but now that Matt Heafy has embraced the clean singing lifestyle, it seems the band has matured to a point where they're ready to reign the metal scene once more. Silence in the Snow got up to #19 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Hard Rock and Rock charts as well. Other standout tracks include "Silence in the Snow" and "The Thing That's Killing Me".

"Until The World Goes Cold" opens with a slow guitar and drum pace, then the chugging guitars drop a heavy load on your head and don't stop pummeling for the next 5 minutes. Heafy's clean voice tells a tale of fighting a battle to rise up to the top. It's a great crushing song with a solid pace and loud guitars. It's nice to see Trivium back on top of the mountain and I hope they'll be able to keep rocking for years to come. It's hard to think that Matt Heafy is now 30, as he was only 17 when Trivium was signed.
