Jester One 2020 - Top 20 Local Artists and Most Played Songs

With another year in the books, I figured I might as well take a look at the top local artists and songs that I was spinning this past year. We'll start with the top artist list.  For reference, in 2020 I listened to 4090 unique artists. I'll put each one in how they fell in the overall rank in parentheses. I'm also excluding the signed artists from this list, such as Relient K, The National and House of Heroes.

I think with the lack of local shows, I didn't really find a ton of new bands to fall in love with this year. TRVSS, Lilieae, Corduroy Brown, and Glassworld are all newcomers, but usually I tend to find more new bands than that too fall in love with every year covering the local scene. There isn't much for the way of surprises here either; I spent a lot of time listening to the top 3 bands, while most of the others just had 1 or 2 songs that got a decent amount of streams. Still, for the 20th most listened to local band to be 334 out of 4090 different bands, I feel like I spent a good chunk of time in my state.

Lilieae took the #1 spot in my Top 20 Countdown for the year, and of course was the most streamed new song for the year as well. Three of the five top streamed songs came from new artists for me, which I appreciate in a year where there really weren't any shows for 9 months. Just the same, almost fifteen thousand individual songs were streamed, and 20 of the top 282 (7%) were local offerings. Of course, this list mirrors the top artist list, and having 20 songs from 12 artists shows an obvious love for a few. Perhaps there will be more variety next year, as concerts (hopefully) start to roll back around. We shall see!
