Stuck In My Head: October 2016

I mean, what else would October end on?

With November looming, I'm putting a hold on Stuck In My Head posts until January.  There are many year end things to attend to and it won't give me any extra time for other activities. See you soon!

Stuck In My Head: August 2016

I'm late again, I know. It just hasn't been a good year for all of the J1 enterprises.

What a great video. What a great CHORUS! Probably the chorus of the year.

More Columbus, Ohio love. These guys keep pumping out amazing albums every few years.

Sometimes a song hits you and you're like, "Where did this come from?!" Yeah, that's this one. Boom.

Stuck In My Head: July 2016

Back to being on track. Yee.

It's a really great tune, and I simply do not listen to it enough.

Sadness as a necessary evil.

Happiness as a necessary survival tool.

Stuck In My Head: June 2016 (Getting back on track)

Yeah, yeah yeah...

Columbus has so much good music flying out of it. Bravo. Graceful Closure are quite good.

There is happiness...

..and there is exceptional sadness.

Stuck In My Head: May 2016 (A Day Late...)

Got married last month. It's been a hectic few weeks and I haven't been able to get around to updating things much lately. Since I missed May, here's the first 3 songs on my wedding playlist...

Stuck In My Head: April 2016

What a year this has been so far.

RIP Prince. Bowie left before him, and the Earth is just a little less freaky without those two muses.

I enjoy me some Miike Snow, but this album is just not for me. Even this song is too poppy for my tastes, but my goodness it's catchy.

Jackson Browne owns one of my all-time favorite voices. It's a shame that writers today have a hard time embodying the lyrical attitude of people like him.

Stuck In My Head - March 2016

March means St Paddys. We'll start with that.

This gal is still my future wife.

...and, to die is easy.

Stuck In My Head - February 2016

Onward and upward!

This is my current favorite jam for 2016. Good start!

One of my favorite songs from childhood. Who knew I was brilliant back then?

Every time I hear a Roxette song I hadn't heard before, I love it. They are irresistibly good.

Stuck In My Head - January 2016

I'm back! Sorry for the delay!

Occasionally, I'll listen to an album and put it on the back burner. I like a few songs, hear a few things I like, but it'll get shuffled around with all the other music and I'll tell myself to come back to it. dEMOTIONAL's album dropped in 2014 and I heard enough that I figured I'd give it another spin soon enough, it's just unfortunate that that "soon enough" wasn't until now. It's pretty good, and I really dig this jam.

I know, man. I don't even like TDWP, but this is a really solid EP and an exceptional song. Crushing it.

I just wish Lauren wasn't so angry on this album. I really want to like it!

Stuck In My Head - November 2015

The lyrics in this song are so painfully relevant to so many things in my life. Just wow. Sometimes it's right down to my soul.

Jewel is such a beautiful person with a lovely voice. There are a couple songs of hers that will always get stuck in my head, and this one falls into that category.

Love is the answer.

Stuck In My Head - October 2015

I can watch Jason Derulo dance all day.

Buildings with 100 floors, swingin' round revolving doors. Tell me, Kelly. Tell me.

Pet Shop Boys. Not my favorite of the 80s, but this song is incredibly good. And Dusty Springfield gives it a lovely touch.

Stuck In My Head: September 2015

Ye gods. It's the flip side of Final Exit. From the other perspective.

I mean, really. You can't ever keep these guys out. They always come back.

Something about the live version of this song on the Cities Live DVD knocked me out of the park.

Stuck In My Head: August 2015

I know I've been sharing 3 songs every month that have been jammed in the old noggin, but honestly there has really only been one song for the month of August.  This gem is just something else, it really is.

They recently updated the muzak playlist at work. There was already a lot of music from The Police and Sting, but not this one. I must say that the first song I ever heard from The Police was "Every Breath You Take". The second song I ever heard graced with Sting's vocals was "Fields of Gold" I really thought Sting was the real deal.

And then I heard the rest of the stuff The Police put out. And Sting's solo albums. And... yeah. I really can't stand his voice, and he's got some rubbish songs that are extremely popular.

But this little ditty blew me out of my socks in the way that it struck a chord with myself and my relationship with my fiancee. I listened to it over and over and over and over again one night. And the next night. And the next. And in the car the next day. And at work. And so on.

It's really all I've got for this month.

I love you, Kelly.

Stuck In My Head: July 2015

I got to see the Gin Blossoms two weeks ago. They were amazing. 10x better than I could have ever imagined. And they've been stuck in my head ever since.

Opening for the Gin Blossoms was Fastball, who put on a great show as well.

On the list of best songs from fake bands, this one ranks pretty high for me.

Stuck In My Head: June 2015

This album is pure brilliance. Any time I ever think that I've forgotten about it, I hear a song and it whisks me right on back.  It's a damn shame that Sarah didn't make another album for 6 whole years, but I enjoyed that one as well. Yeah, yeah. It's good stuff. It's deep, emotional and honest. I'll take this over any of the empty female-driven garbage-pop coming out these days.

Speaking of garbage... this is about as garbage-y as it gets.

To drive a depressed mind, there will always be songs like this. It hits me in all the right places.

Stuck In My Head: May 2015

Not a band I've ever cared for, but this song is great and I've been enjoying the album as well.

New Passion Pit. Yes.

Sometimes you forget about a great song. Sometimes you realize it is awesome.

Stuck In My Head: April 2015

Let me tell you a story about questionable music tastes, and teach you a lesson in awful videography. Or we could just leave the 80's alone. All the same - this video is horrific and I'm almost embarrassed to have had this song flying through my head for the past few weeks. But hearing one of my best friend's renditions of it in an outstanding falsetto has permanently burned it into my mind.

"Felled in the night by the ones you think you love - they will come for you". Whoa. That's the only thing I need to put here. The music can handle the rest.

STP's first two albums are so big and brash and amazing. At the end of March, there were 3 consecutive long workdays in which this song came on the radio as I was leaving work. A perfect anthem to drive home with.

Stuck In My Head: March 2015

Three-fers for everyone!!!

Sometimes The Eagles just swoop in and knock me over. I've heard all of their big hits and listened to several of their albums, but some times it's just the right mood music.

This song came out early last year and I never really really listened to it until recently. Whaaa, I missed out! What a crazy good jam.

I don't know when Papa Roach became Christian, but holy cow this is a great album. I am seriously surprised by the musical output here.
