Title: Sugarcoat Artist: The Cordial Sins Album: Small Talk
Two years in a row, the first Ohio entry comes at #17, this time with Columbus' The Cordial Sins and their much anticipated album Small Talk. The album was even better than anticipated, in fact I'd put it in my top 5 albums of the year, and showed that frontwoman Liz Fisher and the gang have found the perfect way to blend together the buzz of shoegaze with a more upbeat tone. Every song is solid and Sugarcoat is far and away the standout, soaring and humming as it blasts through your head and entrenches its infectious melody in your mind.
Favorite line: "No need to sugarcoat it, everyone seems to know it, I'm fine..."
